Facebook Fan Page Websites

You already know about Facebook, everybody does.

What you might not know are the Cold Hard FACTS about Facebook. Did you know, Facebook has over 400 Million users and Growing? That’s equal to the size of the entire population of the United States of America and Mexico. Combined!

And of those 400+ Million users, did you know that half of them log onto FaceBook EVERYDAY SINGLE DAY?

And that the Average Facebook user spends 13.3 hours per month, which is an average of 26 minutes per day! And I can personally vouch for this seeing as I have a teenage daughter, who spends at least triple this amount of time on Facebook.

So what are all these people doing while on Facebook? Well…

They’re connecting with their Facebook friends. They’re uploading and commenting on photos, status updates and videos. They’re creating and interacting with groups and events and they’re liking facebook Fan Page Websites.

So maybe you’ve already on Facebook and have a profile, but you might be asking… “What’s a Facebook Fan Page?”

I’m glad you asked.

A Facebook Fan Page Website or “Official Page Website” as Facebook has just renamed them is a page anyone can create for their local business, brand, organization or even an artist, band or public figure.

Just to get familiar, let’s talk about some famous and popular Facebook Fan Pages:

For example, the Official Fan Page of movie star Ben Stiller has over 1 million people who like his page. Yet, when you look at the navigation bar of this Fan Page Website there is nothing promoting his current movie, next movie, nor is there any interesting way to interact with him. It could be better, more interactive and much more profitable.

Another example is the Official Fan Page for the band Pink Floyd. They’ve got almost 3 million fans who “Like” their Facebook Fan Page, that’s huge. Yet there is NO way purchase their latest box set or buy products that promote this legendary band… Such a shame.

Then there is the Official Fan Page for the music artist Johnny Cash. Good ole Johhny has over 1.5 million fans, nice work Johnny! Yet, In the navigation bar there is no way for fans to sign up to get updates. They can’t buy the “Essential Johnny Cash” album or his “Flippin The Bird” T-Shirt. So… Johnny… call us and we’ll hook you up.

And lastly… the block buster Movie Titanic has an Official Facebook Fan Page that has around 3 million fans. Remember, this was one of the biggest blockbusters of all time. Yet, it has no way for fans to buy the 10th anniversary edition DVD or the 3-Disc special collectors edition. James Cameron is missing out on thousands of dollars in lost sales… right from Facebook!

Ok… So what is similar about each of these Facebook Fan Pages? Yes… they all have a HUGE amount of fans.
Yet… the thing I find most important and disturbing… is that… they all Look The Same!

If you put them all up on the same page, from that perspective… It’s almost impossible to tell them apart from one another.

Not only is this BORING… It’s bad for business because it’s NOT distinguishing, memorable or profitable.

Some better examples of professionally made custom Facebook Fan Page Websites from big brand companies you already know about include the Fan Page Website for Starbucks.

Starbucks is a company that GETS Social Media. They’ve made it so you can interact with and monitor your Starbucks account right on Facebook. You can Manage and RELOAD your balance from this Fan Page Website. Get it? Right from Facebook… you can send Starbucks MORE of your money. It’s a brilliant marketing strategy! Right?

There is another one that is even better… It’s the Fan Page for the Twilight Saga movies. They’ve made it so you can engage in live chat or watch a video preview. They’ve also got a quiz you can take, a poll to see what character you are and they’ve even got their twitter stream embedded directly into their Fan Page Website. It’s all perfect for connecting with the Twilight community.

So… what if you don’t have a Million Dollar Marketing Budget like these Fortune 500 Big Brand Companies?

Not to worry.

That’s where Fan Page Websites can help. But before I tell you how you can easily and affordably have a Facebook Fan Page for your business or organization let’s first take a quick review of the facts about Facebook and why these facts are important to you.

• Again, Facebook has over 400 Million users, its growing like wild fire
• of those 400 million, 200 Million Users log onto Facebook every day
• and the average person is spending around 26 minutes interacting on Facebook, it’s astounding!
• What’s More, 100 Million people access Facebook directly from their mobile device, like their iPhone, Blackberry, Driod or iPad. and these numbers are ever increasing.
• What’s also important to know is that the Average Facebook User has around 130 friends
• and that they are connected to 60 Fan Pages

So… What this all boils down to…

Essential Tips For Facebook Beginners – Avoid the Common Pitfalls

Essential Tips For Facebook Beginners – Avoid the Common Pitfalls

Social Media means just that – the opportunity to network with people from a social perspective so clearly, personality has everything to do with it. However, there is a big BUT when it comes to social media networking and your business.

Many people forget that while personality can win friends and influence people, there is a line that you shouldn’t cross if you’re using Facebook to network with people who you would like to work with or influence professionally. There have been many occasions when I have come across some dodgy photos on various profiles or uncensored comments from ‘friends’ relaying FAAAAR too much information about the weekends activities.

This can have an extremely detrimental effect on your business. You might think that You Tube clip is funny, but one mans mirth is another mans horror. You’d be surprised how many people can be offended by slightly risque comments or jokes.

So, without being a killjoy, and still allowing your personal voice to shine through, here are a few pointers for those new to Facebook to attract people and keep them plugged into you and your message.

1. Separate your Business profile and your social profile.

Your clients, customers and prospects want to get to know the real you, but it’s not always appropriate to mix your real life and people you want to network with professionally across the globe. I have seen many people make this mistake and it almost always comes across badly. If you’re already on Facebook socially and are connected with an army or friends, ex colleagues, family etc, then start a new profile for your business. You can give it your business name, or include your middle name etc to differentiate both profiles. You can still have a photo and put as much personal information on there as possible, in fact I would very much encourage it, but your future prospects and mentors don’t need to know all the gory details of that date last week – save that for your mates!

2. Privacy Settings

Again, essential for obvious reasons. Go to the top of your profile, click ‘Settings’ on the right hand side and go to Privacy Settings. I recommend that you only allow ‘Friends’ to see any of your information as you want it to feel a bit more exclusive and you can more tightly control, on your own terms, who sees what.

3. Fill out all your personal details as you would any CV.

The more people know about you personally and what you like to do, your interests, favourite films etc, the keener they will be to connect with you.

4. Update your status every day, just to keep yourself in peoples minds.

Always try and make it a positive message and it’s also important with social media that people don’t feel like you’re constantly pitching them. Keep your profile updates at a ratio of around 10 personal to 1 business recommendation. This feels more natural as people will stop looking if they keep seeing ‘look at my amazing product/opportunity’ updates all the time!

So there you have it – some tips that are simple and reap many rewards and yet, I see them ignored time and again

Good luck

Stocks fall over economic worries

Posted: 08 Jun 2011 09:06 PM PDT

A few signs of growth in the U.S. economy weren’t enough to halt a weeklong slide in the stock market Wednesday.

A survey released by the Federal Reserve showed that the pace of recovery is uneven across the country. While seven of the Fed’s 12 districts reported steady gains, the economy stalled in the New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Chicago regions, the Fed said. Dallas was the only region to report accelerated growth. That was largely due to the effect of higher oil prices on the region’s energy industry.

The report added to concerns that have been building since mid-April that the American economy is stalling.

Stocks had been up Tuesday, but fell in late trading after Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke said the U.S. economic recovery was “uneven” and “frustratingly slow,” though he added that he expected growth to pick up in the second half of the year.

That has left many investors on edge. “What Bernanke basically said was that we have to believe we’re in a soft patch that will pass by itself,” said Randall Warren of Warren Financial Services. “That takes a lot of faith.”

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 21.87, or 0.2 percent, to 12,048.94. Corporate news reinforced the glum outlook on the economy. Retailer Abercrombie and Fitch fell more than 5 percent after the company said that it expects its second-quarter earnings to come in lower than the first quarter. Network equipment maker Ciena Corp. fell 16 percent after reporting a larger loss and lower revenue than analysts had expected. Homebuilder Hovnanian Enterprises Inc. lost nearly 12 percent.

Facebook Etiquette Tips

Facebook Etiquette Tips

Facebook seems to bring out hidden sides of its users.  Because of the slightly anonymous feel of using Facebook, users can end up revealing more about themselves than they intended.  Here are Facebook etiquette tips to get the most out of Facebook without hanging all your dirty laundry on the line.

1.  Think of your audience

When you post something to the internet, the entire world is your audience.  Even if you have set your Facebook privacy settings to the strictest settings, it is always possible that what you post today could be seen by a potential employer, spouse, or friend as time goes by.  When you post something of a personal nature on Facebook, imagine what your grandmother or employer would think if they read it. If you wouldn’t want them to read it, don’t say it.  This goes for pictures, as well.  Don’t post anything you wouldn’t want your neighbor, priest, or mother to see.

2.  Double-check for double meanings

Text messages, email, and online forums all have one thing in common: they are communications made without the benefit of body language and voice inflection.  Much of the conversation people have in the real world is decoded against what the speaker is saying with their body or voice.  This is something that cannot be done over the World Wide Web.  When you are composing something online, it is important to check what you have written to make sure it is clear and free of double-meanings.  If your post is misunderstood, promptly correct the mistake with a follow-up post and an apology.

3.  Don’t flame

Facebook etiquette is needed when engaging in conversations online.  When responding to someone else’s comments, no matter how inflammatory their comments are, don’t respond with hate, bigotry, or verbal violence.  Take the higher road and, if you must respond at all, do so in a manner that shows the poster how a person of integrity posts on controversial topics: with clarity, compassion, and thought.

5.  Don’t drunk-post

Like any other method of communication, Facebook posting should only be done sober.  There is nothing worse than waking up the next morning to regret something you’ve said or done and memorialized online for the entire world to see.  If you do make this mistake, delete the photo, comment, or conversation as soon as possible.  You may not be able to rectify the situation entirely, but you can at least do some damage control.  You may want to make the appropriate apologies, as well.

6.  Ignore, don’t delete

If you’re Facebook friends with someone you actually like but who posts endless spam, app requests, or litanies of what they are doing every second of the day, you may want to remove them as a Facebook friend.  Before you do this, consider your other options.  Being dropped as a Facebook friend is a rejection that can feel like a kick in the teeth if you’re not expecting it.  Instead of dropping your friend, you can choose to “ignore” them, an option that removes their posts from your wall but doesn’t change their friend status.
